Attractions at Disney World close for refurbishments throughout the year. Some are longer than others, it just depends on what type of work needs to be done on the attraction.
Once the busy summer season calms down Splash Mountain will be closing for an extended time. It usually closes in the winter for a quick freshening up of the ride, but this will definitely be a longer closure. The log flume ride is scheduled to be closed from August 28 to November 16, 2017. That’s an almost 3 month closure.
Splash Mountain is a favorite ride of mine at Disney World and it’s disappointing when it’s closed. The first time it was closed while we were there I had no warning, because I didn’t know about the availability of the refurb schedules. It’s always good to keep an eye on the refurb schedule, so there are no surprises. Keep in mind that even if a favorite ride is closed there are lots of other rides to experience, especially in Magic Kingdom.
If you are traveling to Disney World between the dates that Splash Mountain is going to be closed, and you are disappointed, then I recommend trying something new. It’s always fun to try something new at Disney World and a favorite ride being closed for a refurb is the perfect excuse.

I was so scared when I saw this post! But we are safe as our trip is Aug22-29. So we will have to make sure we ride it several times our first few days. ;). Thanks for the warning. I always forget to look at refurbs.
Anytime! Glad you will get to ride it 🙂
