Yesterday I posted the above picture and asked for guesses as to where it is located. Quite a few people knew exactly where to find this cobweb covered chandelier.
The chandelier is located on the classic Disney ride, the Haunted Mansion. There are many dusty and cobweb covered light fixtures on this dark ride, so they are not hard to find. The attention to detail with things like adding the cobwebs to the lights is part of what makes this ride a favorite. I love looking around at everything during the journey through the mansion. It’s fun to see what new details you can find each time you ride it.
Before even entering the building guests are entertained in the queue line. There are some interactive elements that guests will come upon as they wind their way closer to the mansion. The elements include a musical crypt, a leaky tomb, and a ghostly writer. These hands-on experiences help to pass the time in line.
Once inside the mansion guests are led into a room and asked to step into the “dead center of the room” (ha ha). I won’t go into detail about what happens next, but I will say to stand by the tightrope walker with the umbrella, so you can be one of the first to start walking to the Doom Buggies.
Once guests are let out of that room they can make their way to the Doom Buggies. The Haunted Mansion is a continuous ride, which means it keeps moving, so just be aware that you will be on a moving sidewalk when you get into your Doom Buggy. Once in the Doom Buggy the journey through the mansion starts. Keep your eyes open for all 999 haunts (“There’s always room for one more!”) and look all around. One of my favorite scenes is the ballroom scene. That is the scene I remember most from my very first trip when I was seven years old. I was a little scared of the Haunted Mansion, but I really liked the ballroom scene and still do to this day.
*Hint: When you come upon the ballroom scene look for a Hidden Mickey in the plates on the table.
Just note that while this is not a scary ride for adults and older kids, it may be a little scary for younger ones. The mix of it being a dark ride, having things moving in the dark, and the appearance of the ghost characters, can make it scary for younger kids.
Thanks to everyone who played along this week and congratulations to those that knew where the chandelier is located! We’ll play again next Wednesday!
The Haunted Mansion is one of Disney’s classic rides and is a favorite among many guests. I know I make sure to ride it at least once every trip. What about you? Is the Haunted Mansion a favorite ride of yours?
Thanks for reading!
