Today is the official reopening date of Festival of the Lion King at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. They have been doing some soft opening performances lately, but as of today it is officially open, which is making a lot of guests (myself included) very happy.

Festival of The Lion King – A Must See [VIDEO]
One of my favorite shows in Disney World is located in Animal Kingdom. It’s a Broadway style show with lots of singing, dancing, acrobatics, and even floats. It’s called Festival of the Lion King and it’s a show you shouldn’t miss!
The Ultimate Day for Young Families VIP Tour
Disney Parks Blog has given us a peek into one of the new VIP tours that are being offered in Disney World. The Ultimate Day for Young Families VIP Tour started at the Tomorrowland Terrace in Magic Kingdom was the starting point for the tour.
Throughout the day they experienced lots of fun attractions including Pirates of the Caribbean, Under the Sea ~ Journey of The Little Mermaid, and Toy Story Mania. While they were in Hollywood Studios they had lunch at a reserved table (lunch orders are taken at the start of the tour). They ended the tour with front row seats at Festival of the Lion King in Animal Kingdom.
In all, the writer, Russ J. Stacey, said they enjoyed 11 attractions in 3 parks. Plus, they got some fun trivia and information along the way. He also said, despite the name, it’s not just for families with little kids. The tour guide told him that plenty of people take the tour with no kids, just the adults.
The cost of the tour is $299 per person (theme park admission not included), it lasts six to seven hours, and is offered on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Behind the Scenes With the Tumble Monkeys
Have you seen the Festival of the Lion King show at Animal Kingdom? If not, you are missing out on a great show. It is a Broadway style show, with amazing props and great singers and actors. Unfortunately, the show was in the process of being moved the last time we were in Disney World, so we did not get to see it. Now the show is in it’s new location at Harambe Theater.
One of the most popular parts of the show are the Tumble Monkeys. These guys are all very talented gymnasts that perform in the show and the audience loves them. They were one of my favorites!
Jennifer Fickley-Baker, from Disney Parks Blog, went behind the scenes with some of the Tumble Monkeys to get some pointers. They even taught her about “Monkeying Out.” Check out the video from Disney Parks Blog below!
Festival of the Lion King is a theater-in-the-round show in the Africa section of Animal Kingdom, just past Tusker House. The building is air conditioned, so on those hot Florida summer days you not only get a good show, but you get to cool off too. There are multiple shows a day, just check My Disney Experience for all the showtimes.
Festival of the Lion King (yellow star on building) is right past Tusker House.
This is such a fun show for the whole family. Plus, you get to play a part. Each section of the theater gets assigned a different animal to represent. When needed each section will make the noise of their chosen animal. It’s a lot of fun! Not to mention that you will get to hear all the great songs from The Lion King and see all the characters that were in the movie.
The Tumble Monkeys are a very fun and entertaining part of a great show. If you haven’t had a chance to see Festival of the Lion King, I highly recommend making a stop on your next trip. It’s a great time for everyone!
