This week’s Snackshot is a throwback to last year’s Hei Hei cone, which was available at Aloha Isle in Magic Kingdom.
Hei Hei is the lovable (and slightly clueless) bird from Moana. He joined Moana (or stowed away on her boat) on her adventure to find Maui and return the heart of Te Fiti. Disney had been making Dole Whip cones inspired by Disney characters and they used Hei Hei for one of the cones. The special cones don’t usually stick around for too long, but I was happy to find it during one of my trips last year.
Not only does the treat look adorable, but it was really refreshing too, especially when it’s so hot. There were two kinds of Dole Whip used for the Hei Hei cone. The bottom layer was the popular Pineapple Dole Whip and the top was a new flavor offered just for this cone, Raspberry Dole Whip. The design was topped off with a sour ribbon to look like his crest of feathers and two sugar candy eyes on the side. I didn’t eat the candy eyes, but the sour ribbon was pretty good. Honestly this was one of my favorite treats from that location and I’m hoping they bring it back at some point. The flavors blended nicely together and it was really enjoyable.
This wasn’t the first Disney character inspired Dole Whip they’ve done. They have also offered a Peter Pan inspired float, Rapunzel (the Lost Princess Cone), and UP (the Adventure is Out There Cone). Let’s hope Disney eventually brings some of these back, because they’re different than what is normally offered and just as refreshing. Plus, they’re really cute!
Hope you enjoyed today’s Snackshot! Did you get a chance to try the Hei Hei cone when it was available?
Thanks for reading!
