When attractions and restaurants close for extended refurbs there is always anticipation of what they are going to look like when they reopen. So of course we all keep our eyes open for the latest refurb lists from Disney.
One of the most recent restaurant refurbs was when Pizza Planet closed and reopened as PizzeRizzo. People were very excited to hear that there was going to be a Muppet themed restaurant in Hollywood Studios, but we were all waiting for the opening date to be released. There’s always a buzz of excitement when an opening date is finally released.
For some restaurants, though, we are still waiting for that opening date. I was really hoping that Planet Hollywood and Paddlefish (formerly Fulton’s Crab House) would both be open when I was there in November, but no such luck. I assumed that an opening date would be announced not long after I returned from Disney, since they both closed for refurbs at the beginning of 2016, but (again) no such luck.
Looking at the latest refurb list I see that the opening dates have both been moved from Fall 2016 to Early 2017. I’m not sure what “early” means. It could mean anywhere from January to March, so we’re not really any closer to an actual opening date. Maybe once the craziness of the holidays lets up they’ll have some news for us on that front. Fingers crossed.
I am definitely interested to see the new decor for both places and, of course, to sample some items off of the menu. Let’s hold out hope that Early 2017 means sometime in January. One thing is for sure, we will keep you updated when we hear more details on opening dates for both restaurants.
