Today we continue the series for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge by talking about the scenery in Batuu. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you really don’t have to be a Star Wars fan to appreciate just how impressive this land is. The Imagineers really outdid themselves with this immersive land.
To be honest, I forgot that I was in Hollywood Studios until it was time to walk back through that tunnel. The scenery really took me away from Disney World, so the Imagineers accomplished their mission of giving guests the feeling that they have been transported to another planet. I couldn’t hear any other part of the park while I was in Galaxy’s Edge, not even any noise from Toy Story Land.
Scenery
The immersive feeling in Galaxy’s Edge starts from the second you step foot inside the land. With the tall peaks, the ships placed throughout the land, the footprints and tracks on the ground (among other things) really add to the feeling that you are in a galaxy far, far away.
The Black Spire Outpost really feels like a market from a Star Wars movie. When you walk around this marketplace you’ll find vendors trying to sell their merchandise to travelers passing by. There’s quite a bit to see in this space, so make sure you walk around and check out everything.
Details in the scenery can be found everywhere, which is why it’s good to take time to look around. Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities has some antiquities stacked up outside the store, outside Savi’s Workshop you’ll find scraps carefully placed around the area, storage containers that have helmets and other Star Wars objects, doors with control panels, and of course, the Millennium Falcon.
The “fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy” is the biggest draw in Batuu and for good reason. It’s huge and it’s a pretty good replica of the one from the movies, so this is definitely a popular picture spot. Having the Millennium Falcon out where guests can see it and take pictures with definitely adds to the amazing scenery in this new land.
Honestly, just walking around and taking in the scenery around you can take some time. There’s so much to see!
So when you visit Batuu make sure to look all around. The land is huge and there’s plenty of sights to take in!
