We had heard about this a while back, that DisneyQuest would be closing in Disney Springs to make room for The NBA Experience. That seemed to be put on hold, until now that is.
To the dismay of many guests, Disney is going through with the deal to put the NBA Experience in the shopping and dining area. This means that DisneyQuest will, unfortunately, have to close.
The reason so many people are disappointed is because of the entertainment inside DisneyQuest. It is home to five floors of a wide variety of video games. The virtual rides, like CyberSpace Mountain and Buzz Lightyear’s Astroblasters, are some popular experiences that guests say they will miss once it has closed for good.
On July 3 DisneyQuest will close and the building will start to be transformed into The NBA Experience. This is going to a basketball-themed experience and will offer guests hands on activities to give all ages a chance to experience what it’s like to be in the game.
Some other things that will be included in this new Disney Springs experience:
- Immersive NBA Video Productions
- Interactive Experiences
- A Restaurant
- A Retail Store
If you like basketball, or sports in general, then this will probably be a place that you will want to check out when it’s open. I have to admit, although I am sad DisneyQuest is closing (I never had a chance to experience it) I have heard that it has been in need of updating for a while. I’m not overly excited about a basketball experience, but I’ll give it a try before I totally write it off.
The article mentions this is the first of the changes the West Side will be undergoing at Disney Springs. We will keep you updated when more announcements are made.
Are you excited for The NBA Experience or are you going to miss DisneyQuest more?

My husband and I aren’t too keen on sports either. We will probably never go there. We did go a few years back to Disney Quest. It was ok, but not something we wanted to go back to. Too bad they don’t put in an attraction there instead 🙂
