Disney announced a while back that they would not be doing the Halloween party, but would instead be doing an After Hours event in it’s place. We had been waiting to hear more details and Disney has now released information on dates, pricing, and when the tickets will go on sale.
Starting June 8 guests who are staying at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels will be able to book early-purchase tickets. Then on June 15 the general public will be able to book tickets for the event, as well. The tickets will give guests the ability to enter Magic Kingdom park at 7 pm. So if you don’t purchase a regular park ticket for that day you can still get in a little earlier than when the event starts.

Even though this is not the normal Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, guests will still be able to trick-or-treat throughout the park (make sure to bring your own big bag, because they give out a lot of candy). The Halloween decorations, lighting, and music will also be back for this After Hours Event. Plus, Disney PhotoPass photographers will be in the park to take pictures and will have special Magic Shots for the Halloween season.
Specialty Halloween food items will be available, as well. The Apple Ginger Dale Frozen Drink and Foolish Mortal Funnel Cake will be available for purchase throughout the night. There will also be some snack items that are complimentary and included with the cost of the ticket. Those items include ice cream novelties, popcorn, and select drinks available at carts stationed around the park. If guests are looking for more of a dining experience, there will be select menu items at several dine-in locations available for purchase.
Guests are permitted to wear costumes during the event, just like at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. However, there are guidelines in place, which can be viewed here. Make sure to take a look at those guidelines before planning your costumes.
This sounds like it’s going to be a fun, albeit pricey, experience! If the price is something you can swing, I definitely recommend trying an After Hours event. The tickets are more limited, so you’ll get to go on more rides and experience more than during a regular Halloween party. Plus, there are some complimentary snacks and drinks included. If you’re on the fence, but really want to attend, I would recommend cancelling a park day and using that ticket money to put towards this event. At most, it’s a five hour and a half, so it’s a good idea to weigh out what works best for your party, a full park day or this After Hours event.
It’s so good to see events like this returning to the parks! Maybe next year we’ll get Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party back, but until then it’s nice to have some sort of an option in it’s place.
Are you planning to attend the After Hours Boo Bash event?
Thanks for reading!

I plan to go in August with my five year old daughter. Really annoying that they are starting 930. Not family friendly at all. But my daughter has wanted to go back since we went in 2019. I guess it will be a sleep in morning and lazy day by the pool so we can last for at least half the party. So thoughtless of young families with the hours. Price is crazy but I will do it for her this time. Also the price isn’t $129 child and $199 adult, at least not in August/September. Price is $129-139 regardless of adult or child.
Hi Marisa!
I misread the information about the cost, it’s $129-$199 per adult or child depending on the day, so thank you for pointing that out. 🙂 If you’re going in August it’s probably going to be $129. I agree the price is a lot, especially when you look at past prices for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party tickets. I’ve done other After Hours events, so I’m hoping this one is the same and there will be very limited tickets available. Then at least people will have no waits for rides. The last Halloween party I went to in 2019 the waits for some of the rides were still 60 minutes or more, which is crazy when you have such a limited amount of time for the party. During the After Hours event at Magic Kingdom I was able to ride Seven Dwarfs Mine Train twice within half an hour, the longest part was walking through the empty queue. So hopefully the crowd levels will be like other After Hours events. I do wish they were starting it earlier too though, 9pm is so late for the younger kids.
I took my daughter in 2019 as well. The crowds were horrible and it felt like we didn’t get to do much because of the lines. We also couldn’t get near any of the food stands, so lesson learned to eat well before you go. Hoping with the cost of these tickets, there truly will be shorter lines so we can enjoy the party!
