Yesterday was a big day for Disney World news. There were quite a few big announcements made at the D23 Parks and Resorts Panel.
Exciting things are definitely happening at Disney World and they are especially exciting if you are a Star Wars fan. Two big Star Wars announcements were made yesterday and one of them caught many people by surprise.
The Official Name for the New Land
First, Disney announced that the new land inspired by Star Wars will be called Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. This name is for both the planets that will be part of the new section in Hollywood Studios. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open in 2019.
This new area will allow guest to fly the Millenium Falcon, visit the hangar bay of a Star Destroyer, meet some favorite characters from the movies, fight in a battle between the First Order and the Resistance, and even try blue milk. It sounds amazing and I can’t wait for it to open!

Star Wars Themed Hotel
The second bit of information is something that came as a surprise. Disney announced they will be building an immersive Star Wars themed hotel! It’s part of their new Disney 360 vacation idea. This new hotel concept will allow guests to be a part of the Star Wars story by becoming a citizen of the galaxy. Guests will get to dress in proper attire and the experience will immerse you 100%.
The new hotel design sounds really cool. I’m just curious what the cost will be. I imagine with such an immersive experience it will be pretty expensive, but we will have to wait and see. We will update as new information is released.
