Droid Depot is a fun experience that guests can book to build their own droid to bring home. It’s one of the many things to experience when in Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios.
When you arrive at Droid Depot you will see different charts and drawings of the droid types you can choose from. When you get to the register the cast member asks which droid you would like to build and will give you the correct basket with the building instructions. Next you will be guided to the area to pick your droid parts. Each type of droid is available in multiple colors, so you can let the belt make a loop to make sure you see all your options. Once you have your color/s picked out, gather the parts and then make your way to the building area.
Once at the building area a cast member will guide you in building your droid. If there are any issues putting the droid together, the cast member will help. After the droid is built the next step is to activate it. The cast member takes the droid and puts it in a space at the top of the build area and when you are ready you press the “Activate” button. Once the button has been pressed you will see your droid start to move and make noise, and the lights on the build area will light up, indicating that the droid is ready and can be taken home.
As I said above, this is a pretty fun experience. Plus, you get a fun little droid to take home. Keep in mind that while you are in Galaxy’s Edge the droid will move and make noise. The droids also interact with each other. So if you have another droid at home, they will talk to each other. It’s interesting to watch them interact. Also, there are different chips available for purchase for the droids. These chips will change their personality and how they react to certain things. The chips are available at Droid Depot and there is usually a cast member close by to tell you what each personality chip will do.
