Yesterday I posted the above picture and asked for guesses as to where the bird is located. There were some good guesses and quite a few people got it right!
The bird is located inside the pyramid in the Mexico Pavilion in the World Showcase at Epcot. It’s near one of the ramps that leads you down to the marketplace. There’s a lot going on inside the pyramid, so it’s easy to miss things like the bird. Inside you will find an art gallery, a ride, a restaurant, a lounge, and shops. Like I said, there’s lots going on inside!
Mexico Folk Art Gallery
When you first walk inside you’ll see a Mexico Folk Art Gallery showcasing art inspired by Dia de Muertos. The gallery leads to the bigger room with the marketplace, which is where you can see the bird. Take a look around the art gallery before you head to the bigger room though, there’s some interesting things to see.
Ride
The Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros is a relaxing boat ride that takes guests to different sites throughout Mexico. While on the journey guests are helping Panchito and Jose Carioca look for Donald, who pops up in the different scenes. It’s a good ride to take when you are looking to get off your feet or if you are looking for a break from the heat in some air conditioning.
Restaurant and Lounge
The restaurant is called San Angel Inn Restuarante. Guests dine in twilight at this restaurant, which is modeled after a 17th-century hacienda at the base of Mayan ruins. If you get a table by the water you will see boats from the Gran Fiesta Tour ride float by, which is always a big hit with the kids. The menu is filled with specialities like Tostadas de Pollo, Ensalada Cesar, Pescado A la Talla, Carne Asada Tampiqueña, Carnitas de Puerco, Traditional Vanilla Flan, Nieves, and more!
Looking for a good margarita? Stop by La Cava del Tequila in the pyramid too. They have over 200 tequilas, top-shelf cocktails, Mexican beer and wine. Also served are light snacks, like chips and guacamole.
Shops
Shopping is available inside the pyramid, with a choice of a few different stores. The shops are: La Princesa de Cristal – Mexico (Apparel & Accessories; Art & Collectibles; Camera & Media; Gifts & Housewares), Plaza de los Amigos (the “open air” marketplace), and La Tienda Encantada (Apparel & Accessories).
As I said above, there is quite a bit to see and do inside the pyramid; it’s easy to spend a bit of time inside looking around at everything. This is a fun place to visit any day, but it’s especially helpful during those really hot days.
Thanks to everyone who played along this week and congratulations to those that knew where the bird is located! We’ll play again next Wednesday!
Have you been inside the pyramid in Mexico? What’s your favorite thing to do inside the pyramid?
Thanks for reading!
