Last week I posted the above picture and asked for guesses as to where it is located. Clearly, this location is popular because a bunch of you knew where to find it.
Congratulations to everyone that knew the fountain in the picture is located at the Caribbean Beach Resort. This moderate resort hotel is decorated with lots of colors that remind you of the tropics. The lobby, which is still fairly new, has a light and airy feeling. Guests will find tables in the lobby that have charging stations, so you can charge your devices as you wait for your room. Off to the side of the lobby is Centertown Market, which is a quick service restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Other dining options include Sebastian’s Bistro (table service), Spyglass Grill (quick service), and Banana Cabana (bar service). Stepping outside the lobby guests will see the fountain that is in the above picture. It is beautiful both day and night, but at night the lights are on and it’s really pretty.
There are five different areas where the rooms are located. These areas are Barbados, Jamaica, Martinique, Trinidad and Aruba. In addition to the regular room categories that are available to book guests can also book a pirate themed room. The beds in the pirate rooms are shaped like pirate ships, so it’s a fun themed room. One thing to keep in mind with the pirate themed rooms is that those beds are double beds, not queens beds like the other rooms have.
Since there are so many buildings with rooms, and everything is spread out, you can’t walk everywhere. To make it easier to get around there are bus stations at each island area. Not only do park buses stop at these stations, but there are also internal buses that make the rounds throughout the day. These internal buses will take guests around the resort, so it’s easier to get around.
The Pool
One place the internal buses can take guests is to the lobby and in back of the lobby is the resort’s feature pool. The main pool area (Fuentes del Morro) is really nice. Disney designed it to look like an old Spanish fort and it is very detailed, for a hotel pool. One of the Cast Members there told me it is one of the most photographed pools on property and I can understand why. It’s beautiful! The pool has a zero entry section and also has 2 water slides. I think you could easily spend a good portion of your day at this pool.
Near the main pool there is also a splash area for kids. It’s not just a little splash pool, it’s a whole playground splash area that gets water dumped on it every few minutes. It looks like a lot of fun for the kids.
In addition to the main pool there are four quiet pools located by each section in the resort. These pools have seating around them, but there are no water slides or pool bars by they pools. It’s a good place to go if you want a quieter place to swim or lay in the sun.
Disney Skyliner
In addition to bus transportation, guests staying at Caribbean Beach Resort also have the option to use the Disney Skyliner station at this resort. This is the station that guests use to transfer to get to Epcot or Hollywood Studios, so it’s a busy station, but the Skyliner is in constant motion so even if there is a line it usually moves quickly. From the Caribbean Beach Skyliner station guests can choose the line that goes to the Riviera Resort (which can be seen from Caribbean Beach) and Epcot, or to Hollywood Studios. Guests can also use the Skyliner to visit Art of Animation and Pop Century.
Thanks to everyone who played along this week! Another Where is it Wednesday picture will be up soon.
