I remember some of my first trip to Disney World. I was seven years old. Most of the trip is a blur, because it was so long ago, but I do remember being in one of the stores.
I was told I could pick out one toy and I had it narrowed down to two plush dolls, Lady and the Tramp. It was a tough decision, but in the end I chose Lady. The next night we came back to our room, after dinner, and I saw Tramp waiting for me. Needless to say, I was a pretty excited seven years old.
I have always loved the movie Lady and the Tramp (still hate those Siamese cats though!) and that’s why todays “In Disney History” is a little extra special for me. Disney Parks Blog has posted that in 1955, on this date, Lady and the Tramp was released in theaters!
If you a fan of this classic movie, you should check out Tony’s Town Square Restaurant when you are in Magic Kingdom. The restaurant is themed after the movie and is supposed to be owned by “Tony,” the same chef who gave Tramp his scraps and whose restaurant (well, the alley in the back) was the setting for the famous spaghetti and meatball scene.
Glad Lady and the Tramp are still around for new generations to enjoy!
Thanks for reading!
