It has been four long years since the Walt Disney World Railroad has circled around the Magic Kingdom, but the wait is over and the trains are back! As of Dec. 23, these 100-year-old vintage steam trains have resumed operations, much to the delight of guests.
The reason for the shutdown was to give Disney the ability to move the track as Tron was being built. During its break from the park the trains underwent maintenance, and this includes a new voiceover. As stated by Disney, “The familiar whistle of its steam engine will be complemented by exciting new sounds and voices,” the team of Imagineers shared. “A new conductor has assumed the role, carrying on the long tradition of warm welcomes and amusing anecdotes while adding fresh commentary and story to the journey.”
This attraction has always been popular with guests, because of the vintage trains and because it’s a great way to see the park while giving your feet a break. There are four different trains and three different train stations (Main Street U.S.A., Frontierland, and Fantasyland). If guests want to do the whole loop from one of the stations, the trip should take about 20 minutes. Not only will the train get you off your feet for a bit, but you also get to see the Magic Kingdom from a different angle, which is interesting.
Are you excited to ride the Walt Disney World Railroad the next time you are at Magic Kingdom?
Thanks for reading!

I’m very happy that the train is back!!!! I’m waiting for the dining plan to come back and I will be Very Happy!!!
I’m with you, Mike! I’ve been crossing my fingers for a while that they will decide to bring it back. I’m hoping this new promo with the dining promo card is a way to ease back into the dining plan, but I’m not holding my breath.
I think the dining promo card is a good sign that the dining plan will return very soon. I’m going down in November, I think it will be back by then.
I hope you’re right! I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
