Yesterday it was announced that Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show would be closing on April 2, 2016. There was mention of other closings as well in the nearby area, but nothing specific. Now we have some specifics.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, there will be more closings and one of those closings is something that has been a landmark to the park. The Earffel Tower will be coming down soon. A date for its removal has not yet been given, but it is sad news for many guests.
Other closings include:
- Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure – A fun playground for kids with over-sized items in it to make the kids feel like they have been shrunk down to the size of a bug
- A Monsters Inc. Meet-and-Greet – Where guests can meet Sully and Mike.
- The Studio Catering Co. restaurant.
Those closings will happen the same time as Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show closes.
The stunt show was a 40 minute show with high-speed chases and gives the audience a look behind the scenes of how things are filmed.
The Earffel Tower is a 130 feet tall structure and the mouse ears way a whopping 32,000 pounds.
I am sad to see the Earffel Tower go. I remember that landmark from every visit to the park. I even have a picture of the tower with no logo on it from when they were in transition from MGM to Hollywood Studios.
During our last trip we stayed in a preferred view room at the Boardwalk Villas and our view included Tower of Terror and the Earffel Tower. We loved it and it brought more magic to our trip every time we looked out our windows.
I know the additions coming to Hollywood Studios will be amazing, but I will definitely miss seeing the water tower with the ears.
We will keep you updated as more information comes in about changes to Hollywood Studios.
What do you think about the water tower being removed?
Thanks for reading!

I’m so sad to see these landmarks disappearing. They’ve been part of our holidays for so many years. Very disappointed that star wars are taking over–neither myself or any family members are fans
I’m sad to see them go too, Julia 🙁 I have been hearing rumors that the Earffel Tower may be used as the water tower in Disney Springs, but it won’t look like the Earffel Tower. I would just be the regular water tower part that is used. The big ears are the part that I am going to miss the most!
