This is a fun way for the kids to end their day. They can hear a special goodnight message from one of their Disney pals!

Disney Flashback Memorabilia
Hey Disney Fans! It’s time to talk about Disney flashback memorabilia. What are Disney flashback memorabilia? They are fun things that you’ve had for years that were purchased at one of the Disney parks or in a Disney Store. It’s fun to take them out and take a stroll down memory lane.
Recipe: Disney Shares How to Make a Mickey Pumpkin Candy Apple [Video]
One of the more popular treats in Disney World is the candy apples. My family gets at least one apple to share during each trip. I love all the cute ideas they come up with for the apples, plus they taste delicious!
New Character Meet and Greets Coming to Hollywood Studios
There has been a lot going on at Hollywood Studios. With the exciting news of lands dedicated to Toy Story and Star Wars planned for the park also came the news of closings, a good amount of closings. One of the biggest upsets was the fact that the Osborne Lights would not be returning. Disney has just made another announcement regarding Hollywood Studios and it’s good news.
Weekly Tip #29 – Looking for Hidden Mickeys
There are so many things to do in Disney World and a lot of them rely on being somewhere at a certain time or waiting in lines. Things can get a little crazy if there is too much packed into one trip, but there are some things you can do to slow down and just have fun. Plus, you don’t need to be in the parks for this.
It’s a well-known game and all it involves is looking for hidden Mickeys. They could be anywhere from being part of a sidewalk to being in the design on your hotel room curtain. We had never spent too much time looking for hidden Mickey’s in the past, but this time around we wanted to see how many we could find.
We had a lot of fun with this, because both the kids and the adults got into the game. So anywhere we went on Disney property we were on the lookout for hidden Mickeys. It’s helpful when you are waiting in line for a ride and the line is not moving fast. We would get the kids looking for the Mickeys and they wouldn’t get impatient waiting in line.
I’m excited to see what hidden Mickeys we can find during the next trip! Disney is pretty creative with the placement of a lot of the Mickeys. Some people have written books about finding the Mickeys. So if you just want to know where they are in the parks, you can pick up one of those books.
Have you ever looked for hidden Mickeys?

Disney Store Grand Opening Set to be a Magical Time
If you are in the Connecticut/New York area, tomorrow is a big day for Disney fans, because it’s the grand opening of the new Disney Store in the Danbury Fair Mall.
It has been open since the beginning of June, but this is going to be a pretty big celebration tomorrow. For starters the first 500 guests will receive a free gift! Then Mickey and Minnie will be in Center Court to great guests from 12-4 (don’t forget your camera!).
If you haven’t been in the store yet, you are in for a treat. It’s an experience that almost makes you think you are in a store in Disney World. The cast members are all wonderful and make it a great experience.
To start the day, they will pick a volunteer from the audience to open the store. My daughter got to do this last weekend and she is still talking about how she “unlocked” the Disney Store. The volunteer helps one cast member search for the key and the second cast member will bring the large key down the blue pixie dust path. My daughter got so excited when she saw the key! Once you do the countdown and the ropes drop, the store is opening and you can make your way in and see all the fun details.
There are Magical Trees throughout the store and kids can sit at the table and watch Disney Store Theater. There is an interactive screen for the theater and people can scroll through to pick what they would like to watch. Something else that is in the new Disney Store, that I found out about through the media alert that was sent to me, is that the skyline in the store incorporates local landmarks. These include the Fairfield County Courthouse, Danbury Railway Museum, Ives Concert Park, and the Tarrywile Mansion. How cool is that?! I love the little details that Disney puts into their projects!
As stated by Jonathan Storey, vice president, Disney Store North America, in the media alert, “Disney Store brings a distinctly Disney experience to hometowns throughout the U.S. with a focus on ‘creating magical moments for guests of all ages,’ and our Cast Members are looking forward to bringing this magic to life in Danbury for all to enjoy.” My experience at the Danbury Fair Disney Store is definitely on par with Mr. Storey’s statement. We feel the Disney magic every time we go in the store.
As I said earlier, the cast members are wonderful. The last time we were in the store, when my daughter was picked to “unlock” the store, the cast members there were Jennifer and Laura. They were fantastic. They even wished my daughter a very merry unbirthday, played the song, put her name on the movie screen, and gave her a certificate! They know how to make a trip to the Disney Store magical, that’s for sure!
Here are the details for the grand opening:
- When: Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 10 a.m.
- Where: Disney Store at Danbury Fair Mall
- First 500 guests receive a free gift
- Meet and Greet with Mickey and Minnie 12-4 (characters will alternate every 30 minutes)
Full Disclosure: I received a media alert and gift drop from Allied-THA, who is handling the marketing of the grand opening. They sent me the information as well as a few Disney products to include in this write up. The box contained a Mickey Plush, a reusable bag, and an Inside Out journal.
The Mickey is a medium-sized plush doll and he is so soft! The Inside Out Journal is cool, because you can pick which emotion to use as the cover. The way Disney designed it there is are multiple back covers, so it works out that no matter which emotion you choose for the cover there will always be a back cover as well. Lastly, the reusable bag is super cute. It has sketches of the Fab Five (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto, and Goofy) and there is also a bigger Mickey and Minnie on either side of the bag.
Here is a video of the Disney products:

New Disney Stores Bring the Magic
New Disney Stores have been opening around the country and the stores look beautiful. They are definitely better than the last batch of Disney Stores, but to be fair those stores weren’t owned by Disney at that point (I know, weird, right?).
It’s nice when a Disney Store opens close to you, because you don’t have to worry about paying shipping for Disney items. There is the problem of the store being so close that you are there all the time and spending money, but I’m okay with that problem 😉
I took some pictures of a new store that opened. My family and I visited and had a lot of fun. We let the kids each pick out one toy. Our son picked out the talking Woody doll (he loves Toy Story) and our daughter picked out a Sophia the First tea set. You will see the tea set in one of the pictures below.
The outside of the store has a Mickey figure and Disney written in the traditional font. Above the glass you will find Tinker Bell with a trail of pixie dust behind her.
When you enter the store look down and you will notice that the walk-way that winds itself around the store has sparkles in it (it’s hard to see the sparkles in the picture, but they’re there). This almost reminds me of the sparkles in the walk-way at night in Future World in Epcot. It’s fun and adds to the magic. Now look to your right and you will see the fun little castle that kids can walk through. My daughter loved this! It’s very cute and it is, of course, surrounded by princess dresses and accessories.
The store has lots of fun plush all over and each section is a different theme. So you have the princess section (with lots of Frozen stuff, of course), Mickey and friends, Disney Junior, Star Wars, Marvel, etc. And they do have some of the very popular Tsum Tsums. People love those things! It’s fun to walk around the store and just look at all the different sections.
The part of the store that my daughter really liked was the interactive section with the little table and the tea set by the movie screen. When you are looking at the screen, to the right are two little touch screens that let you pick something to play on the movie screen. The bottom screen is where you scroll through and choose what to watch and the upper screen is the queue. A countdown will appear next to your choice to let you know when your selection is going to play. I thought this was a pretty cool addition to the store.

The cast members in the store are fantastic. The cast member we spoke with most during our time in the store was Joshua. He was very nice, helpful, and definitely wanted to help make your experience in the store magical. Plus, when he talked to my daughter he knelt down so he was on her level. That’s Disney training right there! Thanks for a great experience Joshua!
Make sure to check out the cast member’s name tag. Below their name is their favorite Disney character. You know how cast members in the parks have the state they are from on their name tags? It’s like that. I noticed Joshua’s favorite character is Aladdin, in case you were wondering. Another cool addition by Disney. Mine would say Daisy Duck, again, in case you were wondering.
Check out the other pictures below. We had such a fun time and can’t wait to go back. The placing of this particular Disney Store is great, because it’s right across from the Lego Store. Another store where it’s easy to spend lots of money!
The official Grand Opening for this store is on June 20 and Mickey and Minnie will be in attendance for this event.
I am so glad to have the magic back in our mall! The store is beautiful, the cast members are wonderful (definitely “Disney” people), and it’s so nice to get the Disney guest service that they are famous for right in our own mall.
See ya real soon, Disney Store!

Letters From Disney Characters
Does your child ever ask you if they can write a letter to their favorite Disney character? It happens a lot, especially after you have just been on a Disney vacation.
