This week’s snackshot takes us to Pandora – The World of Avatar in Animal Kingdom.
Satu’li Canteen is the quick service location in the Pandora area. The design of it fits in perfectly with its surroundings. The idea is that it used to be a mess hall, but is now decorated with Na’vi art and cultural items. It’s definitely worth taking a look around the dining area when you eat there. There is quite a bit to see and helps to continue that feeling that you are in Pandora.
The snackshot photo this week is of the slow-roasted sliced grilled beef bowl. This was my first time having dinner at this location, I’ve only ever tried breakfast before this trip. Satu’li Canteen has a unique menu, so I was interested to try something different. I decided to go with the beef bowl, because I liked the idea of picking a base and a sauce to go with it.
I’ll explain. The bowls at Satu’li Canteen allow you to pick a protein, a base, and a sauce. So you basically get to build your own meal, which is fun. The protein choices are grilled beef, wood-grilled chicken, sustainable fish, and tofu. For the base you can choose between rice and black beens, red and sweet potato hash, mixed whole grain and rice, and a hearty salad. The choices of sauce are charred green onion vinaigrette, black bean vinaigrette, and creamy herb dressing.
For my bowl I chose the grilled beef, the red and sweet potato hash, and the charred green onion vinaigrette. I was pretty happy with what I chose. Everything tasted very good, including the sliced grilled beef. Sometimes things like that can be a little iffy with quick service, but I was pleasantly surprised. I’d definitely recommend trying this meal the next time you are at Satu’li Canteen.
The cost of the slow-roasted sliced grilled beef bowl was $12.99. They give you a good amount of food, so I felt that the price was fine, especially for Disney. I didn’t leave hungry, that’s for sure.
Have you been to Satu’li Canteen?
