Rafiki’s Planet Watch in Animal Kingdom has been closed for a while now, but Disney has announced an opening date for this area. It had closed down for some refurbishment, so it will be interesting to see what changes were made.
One thing guests can expect to see when it opens on July 11 is a new experience. The Animation Experience, located at Conservation Station, will teach guests how live animals have inspired iconic characters from the movie “The Lion King.” In addition, guests can learn more about some of the animals that live at Animal Kingdom.
Another fun feature of this new experience is a little more interactive. Guests will be able to draw some favorite characters from “The Lion King.” Learn how to draw Simba, Zazu, Pumbaa, Timon, and more during an instructor-led animation class. The best part is that this experience is now available as part of the Disney FastPass+ Service. So if you are going to Disney World soon, and you want to try this experience, definitely see if there are any FastPasses available.
In addition to Disney announcing the opening date and new experience, they gave an idea of what else guests can expect when Rafiki’s Planet Watch reopens. Below is a list of experiences mentioned that will be available starting July 11.
- Affection Section – The petting zoo area is coming back!
- See medical procedures at the veterinary treatment window.
- Learn how the animal care experts prepare meals for and care for the park’s animals.
