The Contemporary is a deluxe Disney World resort and Bay Lake Tower is the Disney Vacation Club section of the resort.
This is one of the original resorts that opened with Disney World in 1971. Bay Lake Tower came along quite a few years later in 2009.
These resorts are located on the monorail loop and considered “Monorail Resorts” by guests. The monorail will actually come right through the Contemporary. Not only can you take the monorail to the Magic Kingdom, but you can also walk there from these resorts. The walk is only about 15 minutes.
A popular, but expensive, room view choice is the theme park view. This will give you a view of the Magic Kingdom and you will get to see fireworks from your room, which gives guests a pretty magical experience.
One of our favorite restaurants is in the Contemporary, California Grill. This is one of Disney’s signature dining restaurants and we absolutely loved our dining experience there. Plus, guests who dine in the restaurant are welcome to come back (the same evening) and view the “Wishes” fireworks show from their observation deck. You can see the Magic Kingdom from the huge windows in the restaurant, so there really is no bad view.
Another restaurant we enjoyed at the Contemporary was Chef Mickey’s. I had always heard mixed reviews about this restaurant, but we liked it. The food wasn’t spectacular, but it wasn’t terrible either. We were there more for the characters anyway. The kids loved meeting Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and Pluto all in one place. At one point during the meal, the characters walk around the dining room swinging their napkins in the air and the kids loved doing that too. So, for us, it was a good time.
Have you ever visited the Contemporary resort and Bay Lake Tower?
