Today’s Picture of the Day is from the Animal Kingdom Lodge.
This Disney resort hotel is located near Animal Kingdom and is popular with guests because of its special feature. Guests can see lots animals roaming right outside the hotel.
We stayed here a couple of years ago and loved it! It was pretty cool to step out of our room and see windows looking out to the Savannah. You can actually reserve a Savannah view room and watch the animals from your own balcony. There are viewing areas where guests can go to observe the animals and ask questions about the animals to knowledgeable cast members that are there. At night make sure to check out the night viewing with night vision goggles they have for guests to use.
One of our favorite restaurants is located in Animal Kingdom Lodge. We have tried Boma for both breakfast and dinner and love both. The food and the ambiance are both great. You can see more info about the dinner in my Boma review article.
Here is a list of restaurants at both Animal Kingdom Lodge (Jambo House) and Kidani Village:
- Boma
- Jiko
- Sanaa
- The Mara (Quick Service)
The only thing people really complain about with this resort is the fact that the only transportation available is the bus system. The buses pick up and drop off from Kidani Village first. I know some people think the bus rides are too long, but we honestly didn’t have a problem with the ride time.
Even if you are not staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge, I would definitely make it a point to check out this resort. If for nothing else it’s worth the stop to see the animals, Boma, and the gorgeous lobby.
Have you ever been to Animal Kingdom Lodge?

We were lucky enough to have a Savannah room for three nights during our stay last time. It was truly amazing Sitting on the balcony watching the giraffes close by was just wonderful The hotel itself is fab
How fun! A Savannah view is on my bucket list 🙂
Roll on the 20th July, two weeks in a Savannah View Club Level room. Can’t wait!
That’s going to be an amazing trip! Hope you have a magical time!
We had a Savannah view when the manager upgraded our family four years ago. Our family was there on a military deployment trip and when the manager was told this they upgraded our room. On top of that the room we got was right in front of a giraffe feeding station. The view was amazing.
Wow! You guys must have gotten some pretty great pictures! Love when Disney upgrades 🙂
