Today’s Picture of the Day comes from Disney’s Pop Century Resort.
Aside from Art of Animation, Pop Century is my favorite value resort to walk around and explore. The sections are the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. Each section has giant icons that represent the decade. The over-sized icons are fun to look at and take pictures with. There are giant Foosball players set up in the 70s section and those are really fun to stand next to and snap a picture. The Big Wheel (pictured above) is located in the same section, across from the big Mickey phone. There’s also an outdoor Twister game set up, complete with the spinning board on a post.
The outdoor staircases are even themed for the decade; bowling pins in the 50s, yo-yos in the 60s, 8-track tapes in the 70s, Rubik’s Cube in the 80s, and cell phones in the 90s. They are lit at night, since they are staircases, and you can get some nice pictures. Another fun place to take pictures is by the giant Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head. The bonus is that you can head across Generation Gap Bridge and explore the Art of Animation, which has lots of great photo opportunities.
Here are some other things you can find at Pop Century:
- Food
- Three Pools
- Movies Under the Stars
- Surrey Bike Rentals (at Art of Animation)
- Arcade
If you don’t mind the walk, you can eat at Landscape of Flavors at Art of Animation.
A little tip, if you want to be close to the main building and to transportation then you should book a preferred room and request the 60s buildings. The 70s and 80s are not too bad either, depending on where your room is located. You can always request to be near transportation. It helps, especially if you have little ones, to be close to the bus stops. The closer you are, the less of a walk you have back to your room after a long day in the park.
Have you ever stayed at Pop Century?
Thanks for reading!

Stayed here many years ago when the children we small and loved it !
It’s a great resort. So much fun to walk around and explore!
We stayed there last September on our daughter’s first Disney trip. It was great and she loved all of the themed items and statues (not to mention the shaped pools). Having the meal plan free while staying there did not hurt anyones feelings either.
