Sad news to share today as one of Disney World’s longest running musical acts is ending. In a detailed Facebook post, the group explained what happened and why they will not be returning past October 3.
The group has been playing at Disney World for 32 years, so to say this came as a shock to guests who love the group is an understatement. The definitely added some magic to your visit to the Grand Floridian. There was just something about walking into that grand hotel and being greeted by the music coming from a live band. Many guests would sit and relax in the lobby, while taking in the sights and the music of the Grand Floridian. So it is definitely a sad day to hear that their days at Disney are almost over. Though they haven’t been playing at the Grand Floridian for months, due to the shutdown, Disney did bring them back from furlough to play in Hollywood Studios under the new name “The Disney Society Orchestra,” but now that stint will be ending.

So it seems Disney World was trying to keep them by moving them to another venue, but unfortunately that didn’t last. Things are still not back to normal at Disney World, but once they are, it’s going to be very weird to go to the Grand Floridian and not be able to hear the beautiful music from the orchestra. I feel like they were loved by people of all ages, so this is a loss all around for everyone.
Thank you to The Grand Floridian Society Orchestra for the years of beautiful music! The Grand will not be the same without you!
Did you ever have a chance to see The Grand Floridian Society Orchestra play?
Thanks for reading!
