Last night Spaceship Earth turned into the Death Star as part of a celebration of the new Star Wars movie, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Along with the celebration, Disney also announced some fun Star Wars themed events headed to Hollywood Studios.
Disney made the announcement yesterday. Here is a rundown of what to expect.
Remember the nighttime show “Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular” will be returning on December 16, so it will be joining Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam! as a second show. The nights at Hollywood Studios are going to be busy!
The Star Wars Launch Bay will be getting some new props that are related to Rogue One. It’s already fun to walk around the Launch Bay, but the addition of props and models of things from the new movie will definitely add to the experience. Here are some of the items you can expect to see: a Shoretrooper Blaster, Director Krennic’s Imperial Shuttle, a Death Star model, U-wing gunship, and behind the scenes footage will be added in the Launch Bay Theater. Definitely put that on your list of places to stop if you are a Star Wars fan or if you have a Star Wars fan in the group!
The AWR (Advanced Weapon Research) Troopers from the movie will be added to the show “Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away.” This show runs during the day and there will be a new scene added to include the AWR Troopers.
Something else that’s excited is that Star Tours will switch back to random beginnings and endings. The ride used to do this, so it’s nice to see that coming back. It was always fun not knowing which planet you were going to start out on when the ride started.
Another favorite that is returning is the Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party. This will begin again in 2017 and will offer alls sorts of Star Wars themed treats, as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The party finishes off with VIP viewing of the fireworks show “Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular.”
Finally, to top everything off, Disney is working on a new Star Wars themed tour for Hollywood Studios. How cool is that? It will be a seven-hour guided tour and includes a ride on Star Tours, the chance for kids 4-12 to take part in Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple, a guided tour of the Launch Bay, dinner at a quick-service restaurant (with Star Wars-themed items), the Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party, fireworks view, and more.
Wow, that’s a lot of stuff. It’s nice to see Disney adding some stuff to Hollywood Studios while it goes through so much construction.
