It’s #HalfwaytoHalloween and Disney is celebrating with some spooky fun today. Included in that fun is a special announcement about Disney’s After Hours events.
Starting August 10 and running until October 31, guests can purchase special event tickets for “Disney After Hours BOO BASH” at Magic Kingdom. The event runs from 9 pm to midnight most nights, some nights in August and September will be from 9:30 pm – 12:30 am. Like any of Disney’s special events, there will be lots of fun things to see and experience. When guests purchase a ticket they will be able to enter the park as earl as 7 pm without having to buy a regular park admission ticket.
While this isn’t Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, guests may still dress in costume and Disney will be giving out candy, just like at the Halloween party. When planning your costume keep in mind that costume masks can only be worn by children younger than 14. You can check costume guidelines and Disney’s Know Before You Go page for more information.

About the Event
Disney has been doing these After Hours events for a few years now. The number of tickets is very limited, which gives those attending the event easy access to rides. The first After Hours event I attended was at Magic Kingdom and the biggest thing I remember is being able to ride Seven Dwarfs Mine Train twice in less than half an hour. The same thing happened at the Hollywood Studios After Hours event with Slinky Dog Dash. My friend and I were able to get on the ride multiple times with no wait times, it was great! The fact that the lines for rides are almost non-existent is a big draw, because guests can ride their favorite rides over and over. Plus, the picture opportunities are great because there are less people in the pictures.
In addition to the above perks that come with an After Hours ticket, there is usually unlimited free popcorn, ice cream, and bottled drinks (non-alcoholic) available at carts throughout the park. That is not mentioned in the announcement or on the event page on Disney’s website, but hopefully that will make a return. It’s nice to have some free food and drinks available, because it makes the price of the ticket seem a little more worth it.
Ticket Information
Tickets are not on sale yet, they go on sale next month, so you have time to decide if you want to purchase tickets. I’m not seeing a price per ticket listed yet. However, in the past the tickets were the same price for kids and adults. If you are on a budget, but would like to do this After Hours event, you can replace a park day with these tickets. You’ll be surprised how much you can get done in 3 hours at Magic Kingdom when the tickets are so limited.
I’ll keep an eye out for the opening date to purchase tickets and price details. I’m curious if these are going to be around the same price as they were in the past, which was around $130 per adult/child. So it’s definitely not inexpensive, but if it’s something you can budget for it’s worth it.
While this may not be the return of the Halloween party, I’m glad to see that we’re getting some kind of Halloween fun at Magic Kingdom. What do you think of this announcement? Have you been to an After Hours event before?
Thanks for reading!

I am a bit disappointed and it’s not that I don’t get that compromises had to made for Covid and the anniversary celebration going on at the same time. I used to go a lot to the MNSSHP and was always thrilled to see that there was a place for younger kids to enjoy a fun Halloween without worrying about scaring the heck out of them like other fright fests. When I had my daughter, I took her in 2019 and although she loved it, I was less charmed by the excessive crowds from those multi day party passes and it felt like they were playing more towards adults than young families. This announcement makes me feel that way more. At least before you could enter at 4, party starts 7 and most young families head back after fireworks at 9. Adults had all the time in the world until after midnight. Now you can only enter at 7 with the party starting at 9, which really kind of makes it not possible for young families, or worth the expense for the short amount of time you can be at the party before their bedtime. I was thinking back in 2019 that they should offer select nights as young kids nights, so that the kids had a fun time at the park as well for Halloween. Just a thought.
I’m with you on the crowds for MNSSHP. I went in 2019 as well, and it was much busier than it had been in previous years, which kind of defeated the purpose of buying a special ticket if you’re still waiting in long lines for things. A Halloween event for little ones would be nice and I wonder if they’ll end up doing something during the day at the parks, so everyone can enjoy some sort of Halloween festivities without having to stay until midnight.
A Disney agent made my day today when she told me the electrical light pageant is back on. It’s probably just me but I know it was suspended for a long time. Staying at the Poly in august. My daughter will be thrilled
Yes, I’m excited about that too! My friend stayed in a Bungalow at the Poly a couple of months ago and got to see it right from their deck. It’s such a fun little extra for people in that area. 🙂
