Today’s dose of Disney brings us to Animal Kingdom.
The Tree of Life is the well-known icon for the park. It stands 145 feet tall and towers over the park. It can even be seen from higher elevations around Disney World, I was able to see it from my room at Gran Destino Tower. This man-made tree has a pretty cool feature, it has over 300 animals carved into the tree. I love looking at the tree to see how many animals I can find.
At the base of the tree guests can see a variety of live animals. Lemurs, flamingos, kangaroos, and tortoises are some of the animals guests can visit when exploring the area around the Tree of Life.
Another fun feature of this tree is that it houses a theater. Guests can view the 8- minute, 3D movie It’s Tough to be a Bug! in this theater. The show stars Flik and Hopper from A Bug’s Life, but also has many other bugs in supporting roles to help give a glimpse into the bug world.
At night the Tree of Life comes alive with Tree of Life Awakenings. During this show, which happens around every 10 minutes, fireflies appear and bring to life the animal spirits in the tree’s trunk. Guests will see different animals including a doe, hummingbirds, and a fox projected on the tree. In addition, there’s an original musical score that plays and features animals and themes that are inspired by The Lion King. It’s a nice way to end a day spent in Animal Kingdom!
Hope you enjoyed this Daily Dose of Disney! Do you spend time exploring around the Tree of Life when you visit Animal Kingdom?
