Cast members are a big part of any trip to Disney World and many of them help to make your trip extra special. If you meet a cast member that you feel should be acknowledged there are ways to recognize those cast members.
A lot of times things will get reported, because people are unhappy. It’s important to bring things that need improvement to the attention of management. However, it’s also important to report the good things. Cast members work hard every day helping to make magic for guests, so it’s always nice to thank them.
There are several ways you can thank a cast member. I’ve seen guests make thank you cards to hand out to cast members. This is a nice way to show thanks for all they do. Most of the cards I have seen have had some kind of Disney decoration on them. The cards usually also have the family’s name on them with the year. It’s a cute idea and I’m sure the cast members appreciate it.
You can also talk directly to a manager or supervisor right after your encounter. This is probably easier to do if you are in a store or a restaurant, rather than a ride or character meet and greet. Telling management about your positive experience with a cast member on their team is always a good way to get the cast member recognized. You can also stop by Guest Relations on the way out of a park and let them know of your positive experience.
Another way to thank them is to publicly acknowledge them on Twitter by tweeting Disney World’s Twitter account, @WDWToday. If you decide to go this route, then use #CastCompliment when tweeting them.
If you are already home, don’t worry, you can still make sure the cast member(s) get recognized. During a trip we’ll keep a list of all the cast members we want to thank, to make sure these great people get recognized. If you keep a list it makes it easier to email Disney with each cast member’s name. The email address we use is WDW.Guest.Communications@disneyworld.com.
Some Tips When Emailing Disney
- Keep a list of the Cast Members that you want to recognize while you are in Disney.
- Make a note of the location and time, because that makes it easier for Disney to find the right Cast Member.
- Write about your experience as much as you can when emailing, so they know what exactly to recognize the Cast Member for.
- If you want to thank a PhotoPass Photographer you can get the time the photo was taken by right clicking and looking at the info about the picture.
Last time we recognized a few cast members in our email to Disney World. Each was helpful, super friendly, and very personable, not that we encountered any grumpy cast members, but these people definitely stood out. Disney responded a few days later thanking us. They assured us that each cast member and their supervisor would get the message.
However you choose to thank a cast member I am sure they will appreciate it. With all the hard work they do making magic for guests, it’s nice to give them a little magic back.
