It has become routine for Disney to offer virtual queues for new rides at Disney World. The virtual queues usually only stick around for a bit and end up changing over to the standby queue that is more common.
Two of Disney World’s newest rides are changing from virtual queues to standby queues beginning February 25. The virtual queues allow guests to grab a spot a couple of times throughout the day through the My Disney Experience app. If a guest is able to get a spot in the virtual queue they will then get a notification on the app when it is time to head to the ride. These virtual queues are a nice way of doing things, because guests can spend time experiencing other rides and shows, instead of waiting in long lines. Not that there is no line with the virtual queue, but usually the wait time is less than it would be if it was a regular standby queue.
The two Disney World rides that are changing to standby queues are Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. So after February 25 if you would like to experience these rides, and don’t want to purchase the Multi Pass or Single Pass, it’s probably best to get to the park before it opens and try to be one of the first riders of the day. If you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel you will have early access to the parks, which can help with getting on popular rides earlier in the day.
Those visiting Disney World before February 25 will still have access to the virtual queue for these two rides. Do you like virtual queues, or do you prefer the standby lines?
