Today Disney announced that a few of the rides on the Individual Lightning Lane list will be moved to the Genie+ list for the spring and summer. The change is happening soon too.
Starting tomorrow and available through August 7, 2022 Space Mountain (Magic Kingdom), Frozen Ever After (EPCOT), and Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway (Hollywood Studios) will be moved to the Genie+ list. This means that guests who have purchased Genie+ will not have to pay extra for access to the Lightning Lane for these three rides. This move is meant to help make more options available to those who purchase Genie+ during the spring and summer seasons, since it’s a very busy time in Disney World.
Genie+ was recently introduced as an option in place of the FastPass system. Instead of getting three options 60 or 30 days before your trip, now guests can make one choice at 7 am the morning of their park day. Once they scan in to that attraction they can start making another choice, which is how it worked after guests used the first three FastPasses with the old system.
There are new attractions coming to Magic Kingdom (Tron) and EPCOT (Guardians of the Galaxy – Cosmic Rewind), so I’m guessing that those will take the place of one of the Lightning Lane rides in those parks anyway. However, until we get official opening dates for both rides we’ll have to wait and see.
Are you happy to see these rides are being included with Genie+ now?
Thanks for reading!

Great news! We’re going in May and that will save some money. I imagine at least Frozen and Space Mountain will stay on Genie+ at some point due to Guardians and Tron taking over the individual Lightning Lanes.
