Hi Main Street Wishes fans!
I wanted to share this amazing little crochet Mulan with you.
Shortly after I made Luke Skywalker for my son, my daughter began asking for a crochet Mulan doll. As with the Star Wars crochet kit, I found this kit at Costco (I love Costco). You can also find this one on Amazon, Ebay & at Target.
The instructions guide by Jessica Ward and Jana Whitely shows you how to crochet 12 of the most enchanting Disney princess characters. It’s a 76-page, full color instruction guide and it offers easy to follow and detailed instructions. I’ve seen the kits range in price from $14 – $20 at the various locations listed above. In other words, shop around for the best deal. :0) The kit itself includes all you will need to make Cinderella and her Fairy Godmother.
The 12 Characters it shows you how to make are:
1. Cinderella
2. Fairy Godmother
3. Snow White
4. Aurora
5. Ariel
6. Belle
7. Jasmine
8. Pocahontas
9. Mulan
10. Tiana
11. Rapunzel
12. Merida
I still consider myself an advanced beginner-intermediate crocheter. Mulan was straightforward, with the exception of her hair. All but her hair was single crochet (a beginner stitch), but I still found that I had to concentrate closely on counting my stitches. For her hair I literally wrote out each step and went step by step and stitch by stitch to ensure my accuracy.
The project book has wonderful photos and detailed descriptions of how to perform each stitch. That being said, I am a visual learner and tend to watch youtube videos on how to do stitches that I’m not 100% sure of.
It was interesting to see how the authors approached the construction of this doll. For example, Luke Skywalker’s head and body (one of my previous posts) was crocheted all as one piece. I simply switched colors along the way. This made things super easy!!! Mulan was different. I had to crochet her head, then her body, then her hair and sew it all together at the end. The assembly got a little tricky for me when I figured out that I hadn’t stuffed her head enough to fit in her hair….YIKES. It worked out in the end, but I would highly recommend not assembling anything until all pieces are completed.
Mulan ended up being a wonderful, one of a kind surprise for my little princess. Mulan herself is gorgeous, but for the life of me I can’t get her to stand up on her own. Her dress is very narrow & she’s a bit top heavy. The other dolls featured in this kit appear to have a much broader dress base upon which to stand.
These dolls do end up being fairly delicate. Fortunately, my daughter is old enough to understand this. Luke Skywalker, on the other hand, has required a few repairs already. LOL. Overall, I had a great experience with this and I am looking forward to trying another princess!!! If you tackle one of these projects, take your time & enjoy!!!
I hope you have enjoyed this featured project!! Have a wonderful day and if you make one of these beautiful dolls please feel free to share with us, we love hearing from you.
Have you tried a Disney crochet project?
Thanks for reading!

I have booked a Disney vacation for my grandchildren and myself. I would love to make them a Disney vacation countdown. Last year when we went I made them a countdown on poster board and had them put a sticker on each day starting at 100 days out. I was wondering if you had any ideas for this year. They are 3 & 8. Thank you
Hi Dorine!
I’ve used paper chains in the past and those were pretty popular with the kids. I made them as different characters and used colored paper that matched the theme of the characters. The kids loved taking a chain off everyday. Steph made the suggestion of writing something fun you could do each day on the chain. I might have to do that next time! 🙂
We’ll definitely update and post if we think of other ideas that you can use as it gets closer to your trip.
Hope you all have a magical trip!!
