In honor of the PeopleMover reopening I thought it was a good time to post about this fan favorite ride. It’s one of those rides that may not be thrilling, but guests still love it because it’s a nice pause in an otherwise busy day.
Running around the parks, trying to fit everything in, can be very exhausting. It’s good to have rides that allow you to get off your feet, but also allow you to enjoy a ride. One of my absolute favorite rides is the PeopleMover in Magic Kingdom. It’s located in Tomorrowland and you can’t miss it. All you have to do is look up and chances are you will see one of the cars going by above your head.
This is a ride that almost never has a line. It’s a constant moving ride, like quite a few of the attractions in Disney World, so the line is always moving.
There is a moving sidewalk that will take you up to where the ride is. Once you reach the top you will get into a ride vehicle and you are on your way! The ride moves (slowly) through Tomorrowland and runs about 10 minutes, give or take. So guests pass each other on opposite tracks throughout the ride. There’s usually a lot of waving that goes on, by both kids and adults.
A little history, it was first called the WEDway PeopleMover when it opened in Disney World in 1975. The full name of the ride, as it is today, is Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover. Many guests, myself included, just call it the PeopleMover. During the 10 minute tour of Tomorrowland the ride actually takes you through some of the other rides in Tomorrowland and passes by others. The sites from the PeopleMover are really nice, especially at night with the castle lights on.
Some Attractions Seen During the Ride Are:
- Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
- Space Mountain
- Tomorrowland Speedway
- Carousel of Progress
Some Other Things Seen:
- Star Traders Retail Shop
- Models of Progress City (The original concept for Epcot)
It’s a fun ride to take when you want to relax or when it’s a hot day. It feels good to sit back and put your feet up after exploring the park.
The PeopleMover may not be a thrill ride, but it’s definitely a favorite among a lot of guests. Check out the video below to see the relaxing ride.
Are you a fan of the PeopleMover?
Thanks for reading!

I love getting on the people mover and rest every time we go to the Magic Kingdom we ride it at least once or more times. You should have filmed it in the daytime also so people could see it in the daytime.
I love riding it multiple times too. I’ll put filming it in the daylight on my to-do list for the next trip. 🙂
Thank you
