Today’s Picture of the Day takes us to Epcot on World Showcase Lagoon.
Illuminations: Reflections of Earth is Epcot’s fireworks show that happens every night. It is definitely my favorite fireworks show that Disney has. Don’t get me wrong, I love Wishes, but there is something about Illuminations that gives me goosebumps every time I see it.
The show is the story of the earth; the past, the present, and the future of our planet. The globe in the picture not only plays videos of scenes from around the world, but it opens up to reveal a torch. It’s pretty cool.
One of my favorite parts of the show is when the buildings in the World Showcase (with the exception of Morocco) light up to the music. I love the solidarity that you feel when they are all lighting up for the show in unison with the music.
Of course, the show wouldn’t be much of anything without the music, which is pretty amazing. The music of Illuminations is so powerful, in my opinion. It’s part of the reason I get goosebumps every time I see it. The music, the effects, and the fireworks are so perfectly timed. Would you expect anything less from Disney? Fireworks are kind of their thing.
There are lots of great places to watch the fireworks show around the lagoon. Plus, you can try to get dinner reservations at one of the restaurants with outdoor seating around the time of Illuminations and see the show while you snack, drink, and relax. You can also make reservations for the Illuminations Sparkling Dessert Party.
I know a lot of people prefer Wishes to Illuminations, but Illuminations is definitely my favorite. It might also have something to do with my love of the World Showcase. Strolling around the World Showcase while exploring all the countries is a fun and relaxing way to spend a day in Disney World.
