The most recent update for the My Disney Experience app included the upcoming Mobile Order option. This new feature will begin on May 27 with the quick service restaurant opening in Pandora.
Disney has now announced that this option will be expanded to other quick service restaurants as well. Following Satu’li Canteen there are three other restaurants in Animal Kingdom that will offer Mobile Order this summer. They are Flame Tree Barbecue, Pizzafari, and Restaurantosaurus. Eventually Disney will expand this option to casual and quick service locations all over Disney World.
I said it before and I’ll say it again, I think this is a great addition to the app. It’s a good way to cut down on all the lines and get people in and out quickly. Guests will get to customize their orders and pay for their meal all in the app. When a guest is ready to pick up their meal they can click “I’m here” and the restaurant will start to prepare their food. Once it is ready an alert will be sent through the app.
For the time being guests will only be able to pay through the app with a credit card. Disney will not have the option to use dining plan credits through the app, but hopefully that will come soon. If a guest has a dietary restriction or a discount they wish to use they will have to go through the cashier too.
As with anything new there will be bugs that need to be worked out, but this is a helpful option that has big potential. It’s good to see that they will already be expanding the Mobile Order options this summer.
Disney has a video showing how Mobile Order works. Check it out below.
