IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth has been taking place nightly in Epcot for nearly 20 years. It’s a favorite for a lot of guests and a must-see for each trip, but it will be coming to an end next year.
Disney has announced that at the end of summer 2019, IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth will have it’s final show. The show started in October 1999 as part of the Walt Disney World Millennium Celebration and has been playing nightly ever since. The good thing is Disney gave guests a nice warning about this change, there’s almost a year to see this show before it ends.
There’s no word yet on what will be replacing IllumiNations, but Disney says that “the all-new nighttime fireworks spectacular coming to Epcot’s World Showcase Lagoon will be part of the park’s exciting evolution.” So it’s hard to tell what it’s going to be from that description, but Disney always does a great job with nighttime spectaculars.
I’m sad that IllumiNations is going away, I’ve always loved this show, but I’m excited to see what is next. How do you feel about this change?
Thanks for reading!

It’s one of my favorite events. I will miss it so much! I will plan to see it multiple times when we go this December!
Boo. I say…….don’t fix it unless it is broken!
Hello Liz , yes I also will be sad to see that show end I Have many great memories there, I was there for the millennium and my children were young teenagers they also loved the show. The good news is I’m glad back in a few weeks and that is always on my to do list.As always thanks for the info…..
I’m very upset that Illuminations will be ending even though I knew it had to end some time. I’m glad they gave us an early heads up.
Sad to see it go, but we are going back at the end of April/first of May so we’ll get to see it one last time!
I still miss the show from 20 years ago. I never totally fell in love with Illuminations and often skip it. I’m headed to Disney World in 3 weeks, so I’ll be sure to catch it for the final time, but I’m excited to see what’s coming. They’ve been doing such amazing things recently with imaging on the buildings, so hopefully whatever comes next will be incredible.
