This week’s featured photo takes us to the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
We are getting to the special time of year where all the beautiful and festive decorations, like the impressive Christmas trees, are going up in the parks. This time of year is truly a special time of year to visit. In addition to the other decorations, Disney also has amazing gingerbread displays in some of the Deluxe Resorts.
That brings us to our featured photo for this week. The Grand Floridian has a beautiful gingerbread house on display every year in their lobby. It usually goes up in mid-November and stays up through the holiday season. I saw it for the first time last year and it’s hard for pictures to do it justice. Disney chefs and cast members put so much work into this creation and it shows. The details are stunning!
Not only is this a display, but it is also a store. If you walk around to the back of the gingerbread house you will see that there is a section inside the house where you can purchase goodies from cast members. Can you imagine getting to work inside a gingerbread house?
There are lots of different things you can purchase at the gingerbread house store, but one of the more popular items is the gingerbread shingles. Disney bakes, packages, and sells the same kind of gingerbread shingles they put on the gingerbread house. My friend and Main Street Wishes contributor, Maureen, bought one of these shingles last year to bring home to a family member. They are a good size and look delicious.
So if you plan on visiting the Grand Floridian during the holiday season this year, make sure to stop by the gingerbread house store. There are lots of holiday treats to choose from!
