The weekend kicked off yesterday, September 1, with Force Friday. Not only were new products for Star Wars: The Last Jedi released, but some stores also have giveaways with purchase and some fun extras.
Yesterday, my family and I went to a few different stores to see what was being offered and to see the different AR experiences. If you would like to see what the AR character experiences are about you will have to download the Star Wars app. We had a lot of fun with it and are going back out today to see more.
When you go to a participating store just look for the “Find the Force” icon on the posters. Go into the Star Wars app and click “Find the Force” while pointing the camera at the poster. Your phone will scan the poster and a Star Wars character will appear. It’s very cool!
As you find more characters you will get data coins and digital rewards. It’s kind of like a scavenger hunt with Star Wars characters. The character experiences change everyday from September 1 to September 3, so if you go back each day you will get more rewards.
A nice bonus to these AR experiences is that you can record them, take pictures of them, and save them to your phone. You can even get in the picture too! So if you come across Chewbacca and want to see how you size up next to him just hop in the picture. This was a very good marketing idea, I have to say.
