Throughout this past year Disney’s Minnie Van service has been picking guests up on Disney World property. At first, the service was only available to guests staying at certain resort hotels, but the service has slowly been expanded over the year.
Today, Disney announced that they are expanding the service to anyone that is visiting Walt Disney World. The service, which is available through the Lyft app, has gotten some pretty good reviews over the past year from guests, myself included. The Minnie Vans are very roomy and comfortable. Our family of four fit with no problem and with extra space to spare.
Since it’s available through the Lyft app, once you book your ride you can see where the driver is on the map. We were staying at the cabins when we used the service and they picked us up right at our cabin! Plus, all the drivers are Disney Cast Members, so they can give you tips and information while you are headed to your destination. We took a Minnie Van twice and both times the Cast Members were wonderful. They were friendly, talkative, and very helpful.
Currently the service is available to from 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m., but the hours are subject to change. The cost of using the Minnie Van service is $25 per ride to anywhere on property. Each Minnie Van comes with two car seats in the trunk, so if you have little ones you don’t have to worry about that.
I’ve been asked about whether scooters would fit in the Minnie Vans and I’m not sure they can. The vehicles are Chevy Traverse SUVs, and while they are roomy it doesn’t look like a scooter would fit. However, I would ask Disney to make sure. If you have a wheelchair that folds up that will probably fit.
EDIT: Disney has this posted on the Minnie Van page on their website:
Note: Minnie Van vehicles can accommodate Guests with standard wheelchairs, motorized vehicles and electric conveyance vehicles (ECVs); however, an additional wait time may occur.
So scooters and wheelchairs can be accommodated, there just might be a longer wait time for the vehicle. They must have bigger vans to accommodate the wheelchairs and scooters, but they probably don’t have as many of those as they do the Chevy Traverse SUVs.
There is definitely a difference of cost of using a Minnie Van instead of a regular car from Lyft, but the cost helps pay the Cast Members who are driving the Minnie Vans. Plus, since it is a Disney service, the Minnie Vans can drop guests off closer to the entrance than regular Lyft cars can.
If you can swing the cost for the Minnie Van I think it’s worth it, especially if you are trying to make park opening or a reservation. The service is much quicker than taking a Disney bus.
Have you ever used the Minnie Van service? What did you think?
Thanks for reading!

Do they only run from the hotel to the parks? Do any of them pick up at the airport and drop you off at your hotel?
Hi Doug!
They do pick up at the airport. Last I heard, the fee for airport pickup is $150 per ride.
I would have to agree with you. This is a great idea. A couple times when we went, we made plans for a couple events that we had to be there earlier than the busses ran. We had to take a taxi. In both cases, it was not a positive or pleasant experience. I look forward to trying this service next time we are there!
We are going in December and I’m looking forward to trying the Minnie Van..!
Does this mean Shades of Green hotel is now able to participate?
Hi Pam!
I believe it does, but I would double check with the front desk when you check in.
Planning a trip to Disney World in November, can’t wait. Looking forward to using this service.
Opening up this service to anybody rather than exclusively for guests staying on property seems like it will make getting a ride more difficult since so many more people will be requesting. It seemed like a great perk for resort guests only. Hope I’m wrong but it seems like it just got a little less special.
So just to be clear—they will pick up guests staying at Disney Springs hotels? Also, will six adults fit?
Hi Sandra!
Yes, they should pick you up if you are staying at a Disney Springs Resort hotel and six adults will fit. One will have to ride up next to the driver, but you will all fit. 🙂
