There is a lot going on in Hollywood Studios these days. New lands and new experiences are giving the park a new look. However, one of those new experiences just got delayed for a bit.
Disney announced that Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will be opening at Disneyland in Mickey’s Toontown in 2022, which is exciting for Disneyland guests. Also included in that announcement is a statement regarding the opening of the ride at Hollywood Studios in Disney World.
Here’s the statement that caused some disappointment:
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is also planned to open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World Resort in spring 2020.
Originally the ride was supposed to open this year, but according to the above statement the opening has been delayed quite a bit to spring 2020. There was no reason given, but it’s possible that it has something to do with the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on August 29.
The Great Movie Ride was closed in 2017 to make way for this new ride experience. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is supposed to put guests inside the world of a Mickey Mouse Cartoon Short, like the Mickey Shorts on the Disney Channel. The ride will feature a new story, a new theme song, and Disney is calling this a “2 1/2 D” experience, but no glasses are required. Guests can expect a lot of twists and turns, visual effects and transformations that happen right before their eyes on this new experience.
Hopefully once Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is open we’ll get a little more information about this new ride. We’ll be sure to keep you posted with any updates Disney releases.
Are you excited for this new ride experience?
Thanks for reading!
