Disney is always working to on projects to keep things updated with the parks and hotels. When refurbishments happen certain areas are closed for a bit. So it’s good to have a heads up about what is closed before you travel.

During the year there are refurbishments throughout Disney World property. It’s good to check for refurbishments before each trip, to avoid any disappointment of a favorite ride being down or a main pool at your hotel being closed.
It’s helpful to know which rides will be down during your vacation, so that’s why the refurbishment list is good to look at before your trip. The latest refurb list is now available on the website and in the Facebook groups.
The refurb list will let you know which rides, shows, and restaurants will be closed during your vacation. During the fall and winter months the water parks will also take turns being closed for complete refurbs each year. So it helps to know dates of when things will be closed.
In addition, hotel and hotel room refurbishments and pools closures are also listed. This refurb list shows that two Disney World Resort hotel feature pools will be down for an extended time. The Uzima feature pool at Animal Kingdom Lodge (Jambo House) and the Dig Site feature pool at Coronado Springs are scheduled for refurbishment from September 2018 to December 2018.
The last time I checked Be Our Guest Restaurant in Magic Kingdom was on the list, but it has been removed. So Disney opened those dates for reservations (dates for the week of August 20). I checked and it looks like there is still some availability for that week, though most of the availability is for breakfast.

The Walt Disney World Resort Monorail System may be on modified service and/or routes during the refurb. There will be alternative transportation options available for guests when needed. This refurbishment is ongoing.

Splash Mountain just opened from a lengthy refurb less than two months ago, and now it’s down again.
Being aware of what will be down for a refurbishment when you are in Disney is something that is good to know ahead of time. It’s no fun finding out that your favorite ride will be closed, but if you know ahead of time at least you are prepared.
Planning a Disney World vacation can be a little stressful, especially for people who are visiting for the first time. It’s incredible how much there is to do and there is no way guests will be able to see everything in one trip. So you definitely don’t want to include something that is going to be down for refurbishment in your plans.

Originally the WDW Railroad was supposed to reopen today after a short refurbishment. The attraction closed earlier this month. However, an updated refurb list shows it closed until a little longer than expected.
