It’s been a long time coming and people have been wondering for a while when the newest section of Animal Kingdom would be open. Today Disney gave us an answer.
Disney has announced that Pandora – The World of Avatar will open on May 27. The floating mountains have been seen very clearly at the entrance of the park for a while now. However, the floating mountains are only part of what this new world will offer for guests.
Pandora will have two new ride experiences. The first is the Na’vi River Journey where guests will be taken through a bioluminescent rainforest and meet a Na’vi Shaman at the end of the ride. The second is Avatar Flight of Passage. This is the ride a lot of people are really excited about, because it gives guests the experience of exploring Pandora while riding a Banshee!
The two new ride experiences are not the only things that guests will find in Pandora. Guests will be able to get food at the Satu’li Canteen and get a drink at Pongu Pongu. Also included in the new land is the gift shop, Windtraders. The shop will offer a variety of things including Na’vi cultural items, toys, and science kits.
As the opening date approaches there will probably be other announcements involving the new land. We will keep you updated as more information is released.
We’re pretty excited that the opening date is so close. It will be fun to explore this new land and see how everything looks.

Hi Liz, any ideas about the ‘Speed ‘of these , I made a big mistake when Harry Potter opened and went on the ride inside the castle….huge mistake !!!! Any idea about the new rides please !!

Oh no! Surprises like that are not always fun, that’s for sure. I don’t think the river ride will be that fast, but I’m not sure about the banshee ride. I’ve heard that it’s supposed to be like Soarin’ and there will just be a big screen, so if that’s the case it probably won’t be too fast either.
Hi Liz, any idea when fast passes will be available? I presume there will be long queues for the new rides so interested in booking fast passes if possible (we are arriving end of June)

I haven’t heard anything yet. I would imagine they would open up in about a month to a month and half, but that’s purely speculation. We’ll definitely keep a lookout for more information and post when something official is released. Hope you have a magical vacation in June!
