Disney Springs is certainly starting to take shape with the opening of The Boathouse, Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar, and Morimoto Asia, but another dining experience has been added to the lineup.
According to Disney Parks Blog, Homecoming: Florida Kitchen and Southern Shine will open in the summer of 2016. This restaurant will feature farm-to-table cuisine and will be “rustic-chic.” The kitchen will be a glass-walled show kitchen and the bar will be called Southern Shine.
The chef opening the restaurant is Chef Art Smith and he has had appearances on “Iron Chef America,” “Top Chef,” and “Top Chef Masters.” A couple of fun facts about Chef Smith from Disney Parks Blog are: (1) He is originally from Florida. His family still has a farm where they raise cattle, pecans, and heirloom vegetables. (2) He had a culinary internship with the Disney World College Program.

Some things you can expect to see on the menu:
- Homemade Pimento Cheese
- Church Lady Deviled Eggs
- Low Country Shrimp and Grits
- Kale Salad with Sweet Grass Dairy Cheese and Spiced Pecans
- Grilled Blackstrap Pork Chop with Sawmill Gravy
- Desserts will be made daily and shipped from a bakery in Hamilton County. Expect to see the restaurants signature dessert, Mockingbird Cake.
Chef Smith says that the reason for the dishes is to make people feel like they’re on the back porch with him for every meal.
Will you be trying this new restaurant when it opens?
