Last week I posted the above picture and asked for guesses as to where it is located. This one proved to be a little tough and it’s probably because it’s not what guests are really looking at when they visit this location.
The hat is located at Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney Springs. To see the hat you will have to look behind the cases of cookies and cakes to the bookcases along the wall. There’s a lot going on in this shop, aside from all the goodies, so it’s definitely easy to miss this. The decor is one of the reasons I love visiting here. Admittedly, the theme might be considered “weird” by some, but I love looking around at all the pictures and decorations. It’s definitely a unique experience and that’s part of the draw for many.
Of course, the biggest draw is the type of cookie they sell. These half pound cookies come in many different flavors and have become so popular that a virtual queue is sometimes needed to accommodate the crowds. If you end up waiting in line, an employee does walk up and down the line handing out little menus, so you know what is available ahead of time. The menus have pictures of a character with a back story for each month, so the menus are collectible. They will also include cards with other characters inside the boxes of baked goods. It’s fun to read the back and get each back story on the characters.
In addition to the regular cookie flavors in rotation, Gideon’s will have a special flavor each month, so whenever you are heading to Disney you can check out their website to see what that month’s flavor is. Also, keep in mind that there is a limit of the number of cookies each person can purchase. Usually the number is six, but sometimes they increase the number. They do this so more people have a chance to try the cookies. In addition to cookies, Gideon’s also cakes and coffee available.
Thanks to everyone who played along this week! Another Where is it Wednesday picture will be up soon! What’s your favorite flavor of cookie from Gideon’s Bakehouse?
Thanks for reading!
