Last week I posted the above picture and asked for guesses as to where it is located. We had some great guesses and five of you knew exactly where to find this area.
Congratulations to Doug, Melanie, Angie, Joanna, and Nicki who all knew this area is located! This area is the old lobby for Coronado Springs. Once the Gran Destino Tower was built, check-in moved to the new lobby (at least that’s how it was when I was there). Walking through the old lobby is a little weird when it’s empty like this, but it also affords the chance to look at all the details that can be missed when it’s crowded with people.
At the end of the lobby there is now a doorway that leads to the Gran Destino Tower. Guests can also walk outside from the original part of the hotel to the new tower. The hallway is a nice addition to connect the two hotels though, especially when it’s raining or really hot outside. From the old lobby, the hallway leads guests to the bottom level of the Gran Destino Tower where the Barcelona Lounge is located. The lobby for the Gran Destino Tower is the next floor up, but the lobby overlooks the bottom level so you can see the lobby area from the lower level.
Something to note is that there is no gift shop located in the lobby area of the Gran Destino Tower. However, you can still do some shopping. All you have to do is take the hallway from the Gran Destino to El Centro at Coronado Springs. Since the hallway links the two hotels guests can still walk through the old lobby to get to Panchito’s Gifts and Sundries.
