My friend, Maureen, and I traveled to Disney World this past November and had a great time. A big part of why our trip was so fun was due to the Cast Members we met.
A lot of times things will get reported, because people are unhappy. It’s important to bring things that need improvement to the attention of management. However, it’s also important to report the good things. Cast Members work hard every day helping to make magic for Guests, so it’s always nice to thank them.
There are several ways to thank a Cast Member. I’ve seen guests make thank you cards to hand out to Cast Members. This is a nice way to show thanks for all they do. Most of the cards I have seen have had some kind of Disney decoration on them. The cards usually also have the family’s name on them with the year. It’s a cute idea and I’m sure the Cast Members appreciate it.
You can also talk directly to a manager or supervisor right after your encounter. This is probably easier to do if you are in a store or a restaurant, rather than a ride or character meet and greet. Telling management how about your positive experience with a Cast Member on their team is always a good way to get the Cast Member recognized.
If you are already home, don’t worry, you can still make sure the Cast Member(s) get recognized. This is the option Maureen and I chose, because our trip was so busy and we were constantly on the go. So, to make sure all these great people got recognized we kept a list on our phone of the Cast Member’s name and where we met them. Once we got home we were able to email Disney with each Cast Members name. The email address we used is WDW.Guest.Communications@disneyworld.com.
Some Tips When Emailing Disney
- Keep a list of the Cast Members that you want to recognize while you are in Disney.
- Make a note of the location and time, because that makes it easier for Disney to find the right Cast Member.
- Write about your experience as much as you can when emailing, so they know what exactly to recognize the Cast Member for.
- If you want to thank a PhotoPass Photographer you can get the time the photo was taken by right clicking and looking at the info about the picture.
We recognized 5 Cast Members in our email to Disney World. Each was helpful, super friendly, and very personable, not that we encountered any Grumpy Cast Members, but these five definitely stood out. Disney responded three days later thanking us and assuring us that each Cast Member would get the message.
However you choose to thank a Cast Member I am sure they will appreciate it. With all the hard work they do making magic for Guests, it’s nice to give them a little magic back.
Thanks for reading!

On our most recent trip to Disney (Dec.23-Jan6) we unfortunately ended up with a round of the flu. The resort staff at Grand Floridian were excellent to deal with and helped us maintain comfort in our villa no questions asked. We also had to cancel reservations we had made 180 days out, some of which ,charge a fee or even will not return money spent to book. (Hoop de Doo Revue) they all cancelled our reservations without any question and returned the money for all of our prepaid meals..we were doing a split stay and moving to animal kingdom lodge on the 31st and had only purchased the meal plan for our stay at the Floridian.( due to off site visits to discovery cove and universal) My husband phoned to see if our unused meal plan credits ( due to flu) could be transferred to our AKL stay— with no luck. Later on in the day we received a call from the powers that be that said yes they would transfer our unused credits no problem..when we checked in at AKL we checked with the concierge to make sure everything was a go… it was more than a go..Disney gave us a free dining plan for our second week( QS, TS and two snacks each per day for 4 of us) I know that this doesn’t really cost Disney persay… but they created a great deal of magic with their generosity and compassion… we plan to write an email to Disney to thank them so much for making our flu filled and freezing cold Disney world vacation very happy and comforting! They are amazing! So I agree..we are always so quick to focus on poor service or grouchy people -we need to spend more energy and time thanking those who make the parks what they are..wonderful! And there are lots of those special cast members!!❤️
I’m sorry that you guys had the flu while you were there, but glad that Disney gave you some magic for the second part of your trip! I’m sure they will appreciate your kind words when you email them. 🙂
We had an amazing waiter at the crystal palace. He was funny interacted and joked with us and did so much to make us feel like family.
I thanked the manager on the way out and he thanked me right back. That manager would not let go of my hand!!! He told me rarely will someone take time to tell him of a positive experience. My thank you – effected him, the waiter, and three greeters who just beamed at the exit door and overheard the conversation.
Do it people!!! Say thank you for great guest service. Those cast members need it. ❤️
Love stories like this, Nicolle! It’s so nice that you took the time to make sure the Cast Member was recognized. I’m sure you made their day, or even their week, by saying thank you! 🙂
