When Disney World reopened their parks they made the decision to only allow guests to visit one park per day, to curb crowd size. We’ve been wondering when the Park Hopper option would return and now Disney has given an answer.
Starting January 1, 2021 the Park Hopper option will officially return to Disney World. However, there will be some changes to how it is done. Disney is still trying to keep crowd size down, so capacity comes into play when hopping to other parks.
The Park Hopper hours will begin by 2 p.m. and will run until each of the parks’ scheduled close times. To check the Park Hopper hours guests can go to DisneyWorld.com/ParkHours or check right on the My Disney Experience app. The hours could start earlier or later in the day, depending on the day and park, so it’s a good idea to check this if you are planning to visit multiple parks. It’s also important to check this to see if the second park you want to visit has reached capacity, at which point you would need to pick a different park to visit.

In addition to the Park Hopper option returning, park-to-park transportation is returning as well in 2021. The transportation will be available each day a bit before the start of the Park Hopper hours. Park-to-park transportation is usually available past the hotel bus waiting areas and there should be signs to point you in the right direction.
Something else to keep in mind is that if you are hopping to Hollywood Studios as your second park for the day is that you will not be able to get a reservation for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. At this time, Disney World is only allowing guests who have a Disney Park Pass reservation for the day to get a spot in the virtual queue. So even if the Park Hopper hours open before 2 p.m. (the second chance to get a time slot in the virtual queue) guests who do not have a park pass for that day and are only hopping to Hollywood Studios will not be able to try for a spot in the virtual queue.
It’s so nice to see news of the Park Hopper option returning to Disney World, even if it is a bit modified. Park hopping is something so many guests love to do, so it’s just something else that’s bringing the parks closer to how things were pre shutdown.
Are you excited to see the Park Hopper option returning to Disney World? What park will you plan to hop to first?
