When Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge first opened there was only one ride experience that opened with the park. Rise of the Resistance wasn’t quite ready in August, but it’s now open to the public.
However, while it opened to the public today, if guests do not already have a boarding group number they will probably not be riding today. The boarding groups are a virtual queue line that give guests a boarding group number and once your group starts boarding you can come back to the ride and get in line. Disney has this system in place for the whole land as well, but they haven’t really had to use it much since opening day.
Here is how it shows in the My Disney Experience app for Rise of the Resistance. The boarding group numbers change as the day goes on, but the statement about not assigning new boarding groups remains the same.
This new ride experience is a dark ride that puts guests right in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance. It’s a trackless ride that has multiple ride systems and is different than any other ride at Disney World. So it’s understandable why the lines are so long for this new attraction.
We’ll see if the interest and demand continue after opening day. For now, if you want to be able to experience this ride it’s important to check the My Disney Experience app and get a boarding group number early in the day.
Did you get a chance to ride Rise of the Resistance today? Are you excited for this new experience?
Thanks for reading!

I am going to Walt Disney World next December will they still have the virtual queue working at that time?
