One of the things I always take into consideration when planning Disney World trips is what new food or drinks I’d like to try. Disney is always coming out with new snacks and new drinks, but there are some tried and true Disney snacks that people love.
Classic Snacks
Disney’s classic snacks are things like Dole Whip, turkey legs, the Mickey pretzel, themed candy apples, themed cupcakes, churros, Mickey ice cream bars, and the popcorn (with the option to purchase fun Disney themed popcorn buckets at the carts). I love a good Mickey pretzel and the refreshing Dole Whip, but there are also some snacks I love to get each trip, that might not (yet) be considered classic Disney snacks. One of those is the School Bread from the Norway Pavilion at Epcot. I’ve been getting this snack for years now, so it’s becoming a classic go-to for me. What are some Disney snacks you love that you consider classic Disney snacks?
Other Snacks
Some snacks have been around for a while, but may not be considered classic, because they don’t jump to your mind right away. Things like the chocolate covered fruit, which is super refreshing, is available at many different locations. The Disney themed Rice Krispie treats, like the giant ones shaped like Mickey. There are also other character themed Rice Krispie treats that have icing on them. Macarons are another item that have been around for a while, but probably aren’t considered a classic Disney snack. They are delicious though! What are some other snacks that you love to get at Disney that might not be a classic Disney snack, but is something you get every time you’re in Disney World?
Seasonal and Limited Time Snacks
Disney also offers snacks that are available for a certain season or a limited time throughout the year. The Mickey Celebration Donut is one of the limited time offerings, because it was around for more than just a season. This was a giant donut that could easily be shared by the whole family.
Some items you don’t realize are only around for a limited time. One of those items for me was the Smokey Bones Milkshake at Trilobites in Animal Kingdom. I’m not sure if it’s available elsewhere, but I keep checking to see if it’s back on the menu and have not seen it. This was a chocolate milkshake with bourbon and a piece of candied bacon in it. It was a good drink, but honestly, they had me at candied bacon. Hopefully one of these days it will return to the menu.
Something I found out today, thanks to the very friendly cast member I spoke to, is that there is a Disney snack called Dole Whip Nachos available in the Marketplace area of Disney Springs. She told me they have waffle cones broken up as the nachos. Topping the waffle cone nachos are Dole Whip and other sweet treats. These nachos are available in the spring and summer, so if you’re visiting soon and you love trying new Disney snacks this would be a good one to try. Other seasonal items include special food and drink for different holidays.
So now you know some of my favorite snacks in Disney World, but what are some of yours? This is a short list of just some of the snacks available at Disney World. So, I’m curious what other people’s go-to snacks are when they visit.
Hope you enjoyed this week’s Snackshot! Thanks for reading!
Liz
Hello Liz I love the pineapple dole whip that we get at the Polynesian resort and Epcot and adventure land at the magic kingdom!! My children and grandchildren always wonder how many will grandpa have.
Hi Dennis! Love the Dole Whip too! It’s so refreshing. 🙂
It’s not listed above, but we love the little cake pops on a stick. We had never tried them before, but one Wednesday night during extra magic hours at Magic Kingdom, they were giving them out for free outside of Big Top Souvenirs. Been hooked on them ever since! The other thing we always get (although not expensive and tastes like any other pretzels) is the bigger bag of pretzels shaped like mickey mouses head in the chip and dale bags. We’ll buy one at the beginning of every trip and the kids (and me and my wife) will snack on it throughout the week. Always get a refillable tub of popcorn first day too. Great midday snacks, ezpecially if you had a big breakfast at the castle and skip lunch that day. Long post, sorry. Now I really want to be in Magic Kingdom right now…..guess I’ll turn on Sorcerer Radio while I get ready for church.
I hear you! Writing this post made me hungry and made me miss being in Disney World.
I’m definitely going to look for the cake pops the next time I’m there, those sound really good!
My all time favorite is the Mickey Miuse ice cream bar. It was good in 1973, is now, and was all years in between!
Those are such a classic Disney snack and they’re so good! We definitely get our far share of Mickey ice cream bars during each trip.
My favorite snack is the Mickey Pretzel!
Yum! Do you get it with or without the cheese?
Without cheese, I’m not a big fan of cheese haha
I usually get the cheese, but the Mickey pretzel is definitely good on it’s own. Plus, the fact that it’s shaped like Mickey makes it a fun snack to get.
My go to sweet snack is Dole Whip Savory is the cheeseburger spring rolls….but very disappointed in the huge price hike….headed back for the first time since the pandemic in October and can’t wait!!! Hopefully they will have lots of fun Halloween treats to try and the Epcot food and wine will be a must do! Thank you for all you do…really enjoy seeing everyone’s guesses each week on the pictures you post
Hi Shelly!
I haven’t tried the cheeseburger spring rolls yet, but they’re going on the list! They sound delicious!
Thank you for your kind words, I appreciate it. 🙂 I’m glad you’re enjoying the Where is it Wednesday pictures!
I hope you have a magical time when you go back in October!
Sweet snack favorite is the creme brûlée in France and savory snack would be the chips and guacamole in Mexico!
My favorites are the cupcakes! Yum. I also love the popcorn that comes in the souvenir container. We are also going back in October with my best friend and her family to celebrate both of our 50th birthdays! Can’t believe we are the same age as Magic Kingdom
Disney cupcakes are so good! I love all the different flavors and the ones that have fillings. I hope you all have the best time when you are there in October! Maybe you’ll get some extra birthday pixie dust! 🙂
