Slowly, but surely the restaurants around Disney World property are all reopening. There are a few that will once again open their doors this week, which helps shrink the list of still closed dining locations.
To start, Kona Cafe at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will be reopening after a refurbishment on Tuesday, November 1. The refurbishment brings a different look and feel to the restaurant, and also to the menu. Favorites like Tonga Toast and Pineapple Macadamia Nut Pancakes will both be returning, as well as other favorite menu items. In addition to the returning items, guests can expect to see some new menu selections as well. Reservations are open now.
Next up with a reopening date is one that I’ve had many questions about from clients, Akershus Royal Banquet Hall. This character dining restaurant is located in the Norway pavilion in the World Showcase at EPCOT. The meal is served family-style and includes some traditional Norwegian cuisine, as well as some American cuisine. As of right now, the website is showing dinner as the only meal available, but mentions lunch in the description, so hopefully lunch and breakfast will both return soon as well. During their meal, guests will be able to meet and take pictures will all the princesses visiting the hall.
Another dining update coming this week isn’t a reopening, but a transition in meal styles. Tusker House in Animal Kingdom, which has been open, is returning to an all-you-care-enjoy buffet beginning Tuesday, November 1. In addition to the buffet, guests can see Donald and friends in their safari gear. Reservations are available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner at Tusker House.
While we’re seeing the return of different restaurants and dining styles, there are some dining locations that remain closed at this time. Please see below for a list of locations that have not yet reopened, according to Disney’s website.
Disney World Restaurants that are Still Closed
- 1900 Park Fare – Grand Floridian Resort
- Cool Wash – EPCOT
- ESPN Wide World of Sports Grill – ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex
- Funnel Cake Cart – BoardWalk
- Garden View Tea Room – Grand Floridian Resort
- Neighborhood Bakery – Hollywood Studios
- Restaurant Marrakesh – EPCOT

The list of closed dining locations is definitely shrinking, but it will be nice when no restaurants are on this list. Which restaurant are you most excited about making a return?
