Today’s Picture of the Day comes from Hollywood Studios.
Hollywood Studios is getting a bit of a makeover. One of the changes will be an addition of Toy Story Land. There is already one very popular Toy Story attraction in Hollywood Studios, but once the addition is complete there will be a couple more. The addition includes a slinky dog roller coaster.
The current Toy Story attraction, Toy Story Mania!, always has long lines. It doesn’t matter if it’s an off peak time of year, there will most likely be a wait. It’s understandable though, because it’s a pretty fun attraction.
The queue line is one of my favorites. The Picture of the Day comes from the queue line of this ride. You are the size of the toy, so everything looks pretty big. The Etch-a-Sketch goes through different drawings while you are waiting in line and each time it looks like how an actual Etch-a-Sketch looks when you would draw pictures with it. The whole queue line is fun, especially the talking Mr. Potato Head. So you are kept entertained while you make your way to the boarding area.
After you board your ride vehicle you are taken through a series of midway games where you try to get the highest score. The extra fun part of this ride is that you wear 3D glasses and shoot 3D objects with the shooter that is attached to your ride vehicle.
The games change each time you are brought to a new screen and the objects you use to hit the targets change with the screens too. It’s pretty fun! Here is a rundown of the games in the order of appearance:
- Hamm & Eggs – You get to knock down moving and stationary barnyard animal targets with hard boiled eggs.
- Rex & Trixie’s Dino Darts – Pop balloons with darts.
- Green Army Men Shoot Camp – Break plates with baseballs.
- Buzz Lightyear’s Flying Tossers – Toss rings on top of the Little Green Men.
- Woody’s Rootin’ Tootin’ Shootin’ Gallery – Hit mine-carts with suction-cup darts.
The really good news for this ride is that a third track is being added, which means the wait time will be less, hopefully. According to Disney Parks Blog, it should be opening Memorial Day Weekend.
Have you been on Toy Story Mania!
