As a lot of people are still getting used to how Genie+ works, Disney has changed the way Genie+ is priced. Starting today, the Genie+ price is dependent on crowd levels at Walt Disney World.
Up until today, the price for Genie+ was $15 per person, per day no matter what day you visit. Now the pricing will depend on the dates of your trip. Disney’s example they use is that for a slower day the price will be $15 per person, but on busier days it could reach $22 per person. Disney also notes that the prices are subject to change past October, so November and beyond could see different pricing.
Genie+ is part of what Disney’s FastPass system used to be. Guests now pay for access to the Lightning Lane, but you can only pick one at a time. Gone are the days of lining up three FastPasses to start the day. Genie+ is part of the My Disney Experience app and that’s where you go to make your selections. There is also a list that has one ride in each park listed. These are the Individual Lightning Lane rides and the prices for these rides are dependent on the day and the park where the ride is located.
Genie+ can be purchased the night before your park visit beginning at 12 am. At 7am guests are able to make their first selections from the Genie+ list. Disney World Resort hotel guests can make their first Individual Lightning Lane purchase at 7am, as well. Guests not staying on Disney property can make their first Individual Lightning Lane purchase at the time the park opens. Everything, including the purchase of Genie+ and the Individual Lightning Lane rides, is done on the My Disney Experience app. So make sure to have that app on your phone before your first park day.
