This week’s photo takes us to the lobby of the Polynesian Village Resort.
The lobby of the Polynesian Village Resort has always been popular, because of its beautiful fountain. The original fountain was very big and took up a good portion of the center of the lobby. The new fountain is much smaller, but still very nice.
There was a bit of an uproar when Disney announced they would be removing the beloved fountain. Some are still upset that it is gone from the lobby. I can understand why, it was an impressive indoor fountain. However, the new fountain leaves more space in the lobby and makes if feel more open than it was with the bigger fountain.
It’s also still a good photo opportunity for guests. There is a tiki statue on top of a rock formation and the rock formation is surrounded by tropical flowers at the bottom. It definitely fits with the theme of the resort.
I have to say, even though I was disappointed that the big fountain was taken out, I do love this new fountain. It’s really nice. Plus, I like that you can see over it, to the other side of the lobby. It makes the lobby feel bigger, in my opinion.

I know that a lot of people were upset when the original fountain was replaced. It was a BIG to-do for quite a while. We have stayed at Poly for the past 3 years and really love the look of the renovated Great Ceremonial House! Maui is a perfect centerpiece and the openness of the GCH make it really inviting. Can’t wait to say hi to Maui on our next trip!
